Math and Art for Kids this Summer

Math and Art activity

All the activities I’m going to share are certified tested and it would be of great help for enhancing art, statistics and more for everyone especially for kids.

I tried this activity with my Chinese learner in 3rd grade. It turned out so fun and interesting. This activity help the learner follow directions carefully at the same time creating art.

 

Activity 101  – Modulo 65.2 (Tutorial)

Modulo 65.2

Make a 360 degree circle. Divide it equally from number 1 to 64.

Make a small dot in number 2. 

Number 2 is our starting point.

Multiply by 2’s.

Note: Use colored papers, construction papers, colored pens, combine color to make it more attractive and colorful.

Step 1. Start at number 2. 

2 x 2 = 4 – connect a line from number 2 going to number 4. 

   Multiply all the sum by 2’s

4 x 2 = 8 – connect a line from number 4 going to number 8.

  Repeat the process

8 x 2 = 16 – connect a line from number 8 going to number 16.

16 x 2 = 32 – connect a line from 16 going to number 32.

32 x 2 = 64 – connect a line from 32 going to number 64.

Now, 64 is the last number right?

Step 2. Start a new number “3”

3 x 2 = 6 – connect a line from number 3 going to number 6.

6×2 = 12 – connect a line from number 6 going to number 12.

12×2 = 24 – connect a line from number 12 going to number 24.

24×2 = 48 – connect a line from number 24 going to number 48.

48×2 = 96 ,- here at this point, you cannot connect number 48 going to number 96 (there is no number 96 in the circle.

Step 3. 96-65 = 31 – connect a line from number 48 going to number 31.

31×2 = 62 – connect a line from number 31 going to number 62.

62×2 = 120 cannot connect

120-65 = 55

        = connect a line from number 62 going to 55.

55×2 = 110 cannot connect

110-65 = 55 – this is the end point.

Step 4. Start a new number- the number you haven’t crossed by. The number which doesn’t have a line yet connected.

Let’s start number 5.

5×2 = 10 – connect a line from number 5 going to number 10

10×2 = 20 – connect a line from number 20 going to 20.

20×2 = 40 – connect a line from number 20 going to number 40.

40 x2 = 80 – cannot connect

                      80 – 65 = 15 – connect a line from number 40 going to number 15.

Step 5. Repeat the process until you crossed all numbers out.
